As Scott Feldman takes the mound for the Orioles this afternoon, he is certainly a pitcher on a nice roll. He is 3-1 with a 1.77 ERA over his last seven starts. He is 5-4 with a 3.51 ERA in 13 starts with the Orioles since he was acquired in a July 2 trade with the Chicago Cubs.
This year, between the Cubs and Orioles, Feldman is 12-10 with a 3.49 ERA over 28 starts. The 30-year-old right-hander has had a real solid season.

But Feldman will be a free agent after this season. Will he be an Oriole next year?
The easy answer is he is pitching so well, the O’s may want to resign him. The more complicated part of that is at what price? Another factor is that Feldman’s 2013 season is better than his career numbers. If resigned, does he turn back into the pitcher that went 6-11 with a 5.09 ERA for the 2012 Texas Rangers?
In this MLBTraderumors.com free agent outlook for Feldman, they cited his strengths as command and the ability to get ground balls and a lack of strikeouts and big velocity as a weakness.
The conclusion was that Feldman could command a two-year deal worth $17 million with a vesting option for a third year on the free agent market.
The Feldman we’ve seen in recent starts could certainly be a part of the O’s future. But that contract sounds a little pricey to me.
What are your thoughts? Should the O’s look to resign Feldman if that is the likely price?
