Pitchers included Tommy Hunter (the strongest candidate for the O’s closer role), Hunter Harvey (the O’s first-round pick in 2013), Kevin Gausman, and Dylan Bundy. For the first time in a year, Bundy said that he was throwing without pain, and the right-hander has targeted a date for his return to competitive baseball.
Like Bundy, Nolan Reimold is recovering from injury, and on Thursday, the outfielder took live batting practice for the first time since July.
Players new to the Orioles organization also emerged in Florida this week. On the first day of mini-camp, the O’s inked Delmon Young to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training. He worked out with the O’s along with veteran Jack Cust, who is aiming for a minor league deal.
Outfielder Tyler Colvin was signed to a major league deal Wednesday, and pitcher Alfredo Aceves reached agreement on a minor league deal with the O’s.
In MLB news, all 30 clubs approved expanded replay, as announced yesterday. Various plays and situations are now able to be reviewed, including home runs, hit batters and, yes, fan interference.
