SARASOTA, Fla. – Manny Machado took more ground balls at third base during today’s workout on the Camden Yards replica field. At one point, he was allowed to move one step to his left, as the Orioles ease him into side-to-side drills.
Dylan Bundy threw on flat ground from 150 feet again today, and one person in the organization said the right-hander looked “great.” The club remains encouraged by his progress.

Nick Markakis and Chris Davis put on quite a show in batting practice, launching balls over the right field fence and onto the practice mounds next to the media workroom. Davis actually put one near the fence where the half-field is located, next to the parking lot in front of the main building.
Markakis almost nailed me with one ball. I heard someone yell, “Look out, Roch!” as I walked toward the workroom. I assumed that I was safe at that distance, but I came within a few feet of a concussion.
And finally, I updated my last entry with information on the Ervin Santana rumors, but I’ll come back to it here.
I’ve got three sources saying the Orioles aren’t in on Santana and they’re not going to sign him. Of course, pretty much everything is subject to change, but that’s what I’m hearing.
It’s been speculated by a few industry folks that Santana’s reps are initiating talks with the Orioles. Same with free agent outfielder Nelson Cruz.
The Orioles seem more interested in signing or trading for a designated hitter than bringing in another starter.
