Tillman came back out for the start of the sixth and gave up a leadoff home run to Yankees first baseman and No. 9 hitter Francisco Arcia. That was the only run allowed by Tillman, who surrendered three hits, walked two and struck out five in 5 1/3 innings.

Zach Britton replaced Tillman in the sixth. He allowed a single to Brian Roberts and struck out Kelly Johnson….SARASOTA, Fla. – Chris Tillman became the first Oriole this spring to pitch into the fifth inning today, and he wasn’t done.

Zach Britton replaced Tillman in the sixth. He allowed a single to Brian Roberts and struck out Kelly Johnson. Roberts also singled off Tillman in the fourth.

Tillman, who stranded Ramon Flores after a leadoff double in the fifth, threw 46 of 73 pitches for strikes.

In his last start, Tillman worked 3 1/3 innings before reaching his pitch count in Bradenton. He allowed five runs and six hits, walked none and struck out four.

Over his two previous starts, he allowed six earned runs (eight total) and 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings.

The Yankees didn’t bring a representative lineup today, with most of their regulars in Panama, but Tillman still brought his good stuff to the mound.

Only two outs were recorded by the outfielders, on fly balls to Delmon Young in right and Nelson Cruz in center. Tillman’s fastball was mostly 91-94 mph.

Yankees starter Vial Nuno shut out the Orioles on one hit in four innings, an opposite-field single by Chris Davis in the fourth. Young and Alex Gonzalez singled off reliever Danny Burawa in the fifth.

Davis homered with two outs in the sixth to tie the game 1-1. He’s 11-for-22 with two doubles, three homers and eight RBIs this spring

Gonzalez has walked and singled today and is 10-for-22 this spring. It seemed unlikely that he would break camp with the team after signing a minor league deal, but he’s making a strong bid to serve as the utility infielder on opening day.

Young is 1-for-2 today and 5-for-26 this spring.

Update: Young doubled leading off the seventh, pinch-runner Jemile Weeks stole third and Jonathan Schoop lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to give the Orioles a 2-1 lead.

Britton allowed one hit and struck out one in one inning.

Suk-min Yoon made his debut and tossed a scoreless inning, allowing a leadoff single. He threw 11 pitches, eight for strikes. His fastball topped out at 91 mph.
