Norris’ day started real well, as he rolled through the first two innings on 25 pitches. But that roll didn’t last.
He allowed three singles to load the bases in the third and Torii Hunter unloaded them with a three-run double. Two innings later, it was Hunter again. His two-run homer made it 5-1.
Norris today: 5 IP, 9 hits, 5 R/ER, 0 walks, 2 strikeouts.
Norris threw 103 pitches, 69 for strikes. He has now allowed 14 runs in 17 career innings against the Tigers.
One time through the rotation, the O’s five starters have worked to an ERA of 7.56, giving up 21 runs and six homers over 25 innings.
Since Chris Tillman gave up just one run on opening day, O’s starters have pitched 20 innings allowing 35 hits, including five homers and 20 runs (all earned) for an ERA of 9.00.
The Tigers just added two runs in the sixth off Matusz to lead this game 7-1.
To say the least, this has to start getting better and in a hurry.
