Wieters had an MRI on his elbow Monday and manager Buck Showalter sounded optimistic that the two-time All-Star and Gold Glove winner would remain in the lineup.
Caleb Joseph has been summoned from Triple-A Norfolk and could have his contract purchased today to give the Orioles an extra catcher. They have an open spot on the 40-man roster and could option an infielder to make room on the 25-man roster.
Wieters will meet with reporters later today at Tropicana Field, and the Orioles will provide more information on his examination.
