Former Orioles reliever Francisco Rodriguez was 17-for-18 in save opportunities for the Brewers as he entered today’s game at Miller Park in the top of the ninth inning.
One out away from going 18-for-19, Rodriguez gave up a solo home run to Jonathan Schoop, a pinch-hit single to Delmon Young and a game-tying double to Nick Markakis.
Baseball is a funny game.
Schoop hadn’t homered since May 7. Now, he’s registered the first multi-homer game of his career with this shot.

A real funny game.
Pinch-runner David Lough scored from first base on Markakis’ double. That’s one reason why he’s still on this roster. The Orioles value his speed.
Darren O’Day will work the bottom of the ninth for the Orioles, who are 10-6 in one-run games this season and 0-20 when trailing after eight innings.
Brad Brach threw two scoreless innings despite allowing two hits and walking a batter.
Down on the farm, Double-A Bowie’s Christian Walker hit two home runs today, raising his season total to 14.
Update: Zach Britton started warming with two outs in the top of the 10th, just in case the Orioles took the lead.
It happened.
J.J. Hardy doubled and scored on Nick Hundley’s single to left field.
The Orioles are 10-6 in one-run games and 4-1 in extras. They’re also 0-20 when trailing after eight innings.
Update II: Game over. The Orioles defeat the Brewers 7-6 in 10 innings.
Britton is 3-for-3 in save chances and has allowed two earned runs in 27 2/3 innings. He hasn’t surrendered a run in 12 straight appearances.
It got a little dicey in the 10th after Khris Davis singled and Lyle Overbay walked with one out. Irving Falu bounced into a double play, and the Orioles improved to 7-12 in day games and 26-23 overall.
