Ramirez, 32, has registered eight scoreless innings for Norfolk in five relief appearances this season, striking out 14 and not issuing a walk. He’s 23-21 with a 3.42 ERA in 423 major league games over eight seasons with Colorado (2006-07), Kansas City (2008), Boston (2009-10), San Francisco (2010-11, ’13) and the Mets (2012).
The Orioles agreed to terms with Ramirez on May 31 and sent him to the minor league complex in Sarasota before assigning him to Norfolk. The Orioles had room on the 40-man roster so no corresponding room was necessary.
Meek, 31, is 0-3 with a 7.47 ERA over 15 2/3 innings and 15 games for the Orioles this season.
