Jimenez was 0-6 with a 6.28 ERA at home before taking the mound tonight against the Rangers. The Orioles hadn’t scored more than two runs while he was still in the game. They were blanked in his last four outings and five of six while he was pitching.

They weren’t trying to diss him. It just kept working out that way.

Jimenez had completed seven innings only twice this season, most recently May 13…Ubaldo Jimenez has a legitimate chance to finally win a game this season at Camden Yards.

Jimenez was 0-6 with a 6.28 ERA at home before taking the mound tonight against the Rangers. The Orioles hadn’t scored more than two runs while he was still in the game. They were blanked in his last four outings and five of six while he was pitching.

Jimenez had completed seven innings only twice this season, most recently May 13 against the Tigers. His season high was 7 1/3 on May 2, when he held the Twins scoreless and struck out 10.

With Ryan Webb warming tonight, Jimenez came back out for the eighth with his pitch count at 106, 12 below his season high. The only run off him was unearned after Chris Davis’ throwing error with two outs in the fifth allowed Leonys Martin to score.

Michael Choice flied out to open the eighth and Shin-Soo Choo grounded out to give Jimenez a career high 7 2/3 innings as an Oriole, but he wasn’t done. Elvis Andrus flied out on Jimenez’s 116th pitch, and fans stood to applaud the right-hander, who touched the bill of his cap before disappearing into the dugout.

Jimenez has allowed one unearned run and four hits in eight innings, with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Newest Oriole Ramon Ramirez is warming in the bullpen. Jimenez appears to be done for the night with the Orioles leading 7-1.

Update: Ramirez made his Orioles debut in the ninth and wrapped up a 7-1 victory over the Rangers.

Ramirez walked one and struck out two.

The Orioles are 43-39 overall and 20-21 at home. They’re one game behind the Blue Jays in the American League East.
