The Orioles, along with Orioles Wives, Oriole Advocates, WJZ-TV, MASN, and the Maryland Food Bank will hold their 28th annual Food and Funds Drive at Camden Yards this weekend, July 11-13, during the series against the Yankees. Members of these groups will collect non-perishable food items and monetary donations from fans at each entrance from the time gates open until the middle of the second inning during games this weekend.
Items most needed at this time are peanut butter, canned chicken, canned tuna, oatmeal, breakfast cereals and canned fruits and vegetables. Both drives benefit soup kitchens, food pantries and emergency shelters throughout Maryland.
During last year’s OriolesREACH Food Drive, more than 9,500 pounds of food and $34,000 in cash donations were collected.
For more information, call 888-848-BIRD or visit www.orioles.com/community.
Also, the YAI Network, a previous Yankees HOPE Week honoree, has joined the folks from Food Network’s “Ace of Cakes” to hold a fundraising effort during the Yankees-Orioles series in Baltimore on Sunday, July 13.
Mary Smith from TV’s “Ace of Cakes” has agreed to host an 11 a.m. cake class and competition at Charm City Cakes’ Baltimore headquarters that will honor the Orioles-Yankees rivalry. A portion of the proceeds will be donated directly to YAI Network.

The Orioles have donated four tickets to the July 13 game, with batting practice field passes included. Guest judges will choose his or her favorite Yankees- and Orioles-themed cakes and will award each winner a pair of tickets to that evening’s game.
Since 1957, the YAI Network has been providing hope and opportunity to people of all ages with developmental disabilities and their families. The organization includes more than 450 programs and serves more than 20,000 people every day.
