Adam Jones leads the Angels 4-2 tonight in Anaheim.
Jones has belted a pair of two-run homers, both scoring Nick Markakis ahead of him. His second blast in the sixth inning broke a 2-2 tie.
Angels starter Matt Shoemaker retired 15 in a row before Markakis doubled in the sixth. Shoemaker started off Jones with a fastball, threw him a changeup and followed it with an 82 mph slider that disappeared into the night.

Bud Norris has allowed one earned run (two total) and eight hits in five innings. He’s thrown 75 pitches, 52 for strikes.
Shoemaker tied his career high with 10 strikeouts, but departed after Nelson Cruz’s single in the sixth.
Update: The Orioles take the first game of the series with a 4-2 win over the Angels.
Darren O’Day tossed a scoreless eighth inning and Zach Britton retired the Angels in order in the ninth for his 17th save. O’Day hasn’t allowed a run in his last 12 appearances over 13 2/3 innings.
The Orioles lead the Blue Jays and Yankees by four games in the AL East.
Jones’ second homer was measured at 443 feet.
