The Orioles have 27 outfield assists, including three from Young, whose most recent before today occurred on April 13 against the Blue Jays.
The Cardinals challenged the call, but it was confirmed after a delay of 1 minute, 39 seconds.
A short outing by Jimenez today likely would bring left-hander T.J. McFarland out of the bullpen.
Nick Markakis walked and Manny Machado reached on a bunt single against Cardinals starter John Lackey in the bottom of the first inning, but Adam Jones lined into a double play and Nelson Cruz popped up.
The Orioles are 46-10 when scoring first, giving them the best winning percentage (.821) in the majors.
Update: So much for that stat.
Jon Jay lined an 89 mph fastball onto the flag court in right field with two outs in the second inning to give St. Louis a 2-0 lead.
Jimenez has allowed 12 home runs in 19 starts.
