The Orioles just announced that shortstop J.J. Hardy has been scratched from the lineup due to a sprained left thumb.
The injury must have occurred during batting practice. Manager Buck Showalter will provide more information following the game.
Ryan Flaherty moves from second base to shortstop. Jonathan Schoop is starting at second base.
Hardy, who had played in 96 straight games, has been bothered previously this season with tightness in his lower back and a hamstring injury.
