The Orioles today announced that they have recalled right-hander Evan Meek from Triple-A Norfolk and right-hander Kevin Gausman from the GCL Orioles and selected the contract of left-hander Joe Saunders from the Tides. Additionally, infielder Kelly Johnson has reported to the club.
Meek, 31, went 2-0 with 16 saves and a 1.94 ERA (41.2IP, 9ER) in 39 games for the Tides this season, striking out 37 and walking four. Gausman, 23, is 7-6 with a 3.84 ERA (82.0IP, 35ER) in 15 starts for the Orioles this season. He is scheduled to start this afternoon’s game against Minnesota.
Saunders, 33, posted a 1.50 ERA (12.0IP, 2ER) in 10 appearances for the Tides, holding left-handed hitters to a .211/.286/.316 line (4-for-19). He made eight starts for Texas earlier this season. Saunders will wear #51.
Johnson, 32, was acquired from Boston on Saturday. He will wear #14.
