The O’s are batting just .125 (5-for-40) with RISP in the five games on this road trip. They went 9-for-20 with RISP in the three-game sweep of Cincinnati that ended the last homestand.

On the mound this afternoon, Wei-Yin Chen (14-4, 3.69 ERA) pitches against right-hander Brandon Workman (1-8, 4.90 ERA).

Chen has pitched to an ERA of 2.68 in his last eight road starts. In nine starts since the All-Star break, the left-hander is 5-1 with a 2.84 ERA and a .240 average against.

Chen is 4-3 with a 4.61 ERA in 10 career starts against Boston. In six career Fenway Park starts, he is 2-2 with a 5.79 ERA.

The 26-year-old Workman has pitched twice in 2014 against the Orioles, once in relief and once as a starter. He has pitched 7 1/3 scoreless innings on just two hits with an .087 average against.

The Orioles have scored first in both games in this series. They lead the AL in winning percentage when they score first:

The Orioles went 9-2 on their most recent homestand, are 3-2 on this road trip and have posted the second-best record in baseball (43-20, .683) since June 30, trailing only the Angels’ 44-20 (.688) mark.

A win today would give the Orioles their third straight winning season over the Red Sox. They went 13-5 in 2012 and 11-8 last year. They are 9-6 this season with three games remaining after today.
