The Orioles and Yankees were locked in a scoreless tie in Game 1 of their doubleheader until Chris Young homered off Brad Brach with two outs and the bases empty in the top of the 11th inning.

The bullpen had tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings with six strikeouts before Young homered for the second consecutive game. Zach Britton issued a walk in the 10th for the only Yankees baserunner since starter Kevin Gausman departed after the seventh.

Gausman has allowed two runs in his last two starts covering 14 innings.

Jonthan Schoop is 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. He’s now 1-for-24 with 10 strikeouts in his last six games.

Adam Jones is 0-for-5 with four strikeouts. Jones and Schoop have each left five runners on base.

Quintin Berry pinch-ran for Steve Pearce in the ninth and stole second, making him 30-for-30 in the majors, including the playoffs. Berry is 25-for-25 in the regular season to tie Jacoby Ellsbury for the third-longest streak to start a career since 1961.

The Orioles are 13-5 in extra innings, and the Yankees are 7-6. The Yankees lead 1-0.

Update: Jimmy Paredes, pinch-hitting for Schoop with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 11th, lined a walk-off double to right field.

Nelson Cruz walked and pinch-runner David Lough took second on Ryan Flaherty’s sacrifice bunt. Reliever Adam Warren hit J.J. Hardy, and pinch-hitter Steve Clevenger walked with two outs to load the bases.
