Jeremy Guthrie allowed just two runs over eight innings as the O’s beat Chicago 10-2 Sunday to take the final game of the series.
Guthrie improved to 7-8, 5.12. In eight innings he allowed just three hits, but two of them were solo homers to Dewayne Wise and Chris Getz.
Guthrie, who improved to 1-3 in five career starts vs. the Sox, had pitched to an ERA of 6.23 over his previous seven starts.

Brian Roberts led off the game with a single. He stole second, went to third on an error and scored on a wild pitch for a 1-0 lead. Dewayne Wise hit a solo homer in the 3rd for a 1-1 tie.
The O’s scored five in the 5th to open a 6-1 lead as they took advantage of three walks and a hit batter in the inning.
After Adam Jones scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch, Luke Scott and Nolan Reimold drew bases loaded walks for a 4-1 lead. Gregg Zaun knocked in the 5th run with a single and another scored on a Cesar Izturis fielders choice.
The O’s scored four off Tony Pena in the 9th on Scott’s RBI double and Gregg Zaun’s three-run homer.
The O’s pick up their first win of the second half and are 5-3 over the last eight games and 16-14 over the last 30 contests.
The White Sox had won 14 of 20 entering today.
The O’s begin a three-game series Monday night at Yankee Stadium.
