Brian McCann hit a solo homer, Antoan Richardson singled in a run and a third run scored on a double steal with Chris Young swiping home.

Over six innings, Gonzalez allowed three hits and the three runs. He is now 9-8 with an ERA of 3.28. He had pitched to an ERA of 1.82 over his previous 10 starts, allowing two earned runs or fewer nine times.

In the last 12 games, O’s starting pitchers have an ERA of 1.61 with 10 quality starts.

Down 3-0, the O’s got one back in the third as Nelson Cruz singled to score Nick Markakis, who had a leadoff single. It was Cruz’s 102nd RBI.

In the sixth, a Steve Pearce homer pulled the Orioles within 3-2. It was his 17th longball. Pearce hit 17 career homers in 743 at-bats coming into this season and he hit No. 17 this year in his 311th at-bat.

Markakis went 2-for-4, producing his 50th multi-hit game. He tied Eddie Murray’s club record with six seasons of at least 50 multi-hit games.

But the O’s could not pull even as they fell to 88-60 and their six-game win streak was snapped. They lost for just the eighth time in their last 34 home games.

The Orioles were 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and saw a five-game winning streak over the Yankees come to an end. They are 10-4 versus New York and 39-23 against the American League East.

In the series finale on Sunday night, Chris Tillman (12-5, 3.36 ERA) faces right-hander Hiroki Kuroda (10-9, 3.91 ERA).
