He also suggested that a starter could be sent down to instructional league in Sarasota to make a start, or the club could arrange a simulated game.

The trick is giving guys a little more rest while also making sure to keep them sharp.

Kevin Gausman should be able to make his next start. He developed a blister on his right middle finger last night, which prevented him from returning to the mound in the sixth inning.

Wei-Yin Chen will start Monday night against the Yankees in the Bronx. He’s the only confirmed starter in the four-game series.

The Yankees are starting Michael Pineda, Brandon McCarthy, Shane Greene and Hiroki Kuroda.

Nick Markakis said his right shoulder is feeling better, but it’s still sore. He’s the proverbial day-to-day.

X-rays taken yesterday didn’t reveal any structural damage.

Showalter continues to piece together his Division Series roster. He’s pretty much settled on his rotation, but isn’t ready to reveal it.

Today’s Breathe Deep Baltimore walk at Camden Yards in memory of Monica Barlow raised more than $100,000.

Showalter spoke to the participants, urging them to treat the day as a celebration, before introducing Monica’s husband, Ben Barlow. I also spotted Markakis and his wife, Christina, reliever Darren O’Day, head athletic trainer Richie Bancells and assistant athletic trainer Brian Ebel.
