The Orioles today announced that they have acquired right-hander Jason Garcia from Houston following his selection with the #4 pick in the Rule 5 draft out of the Boston Red Sox organization in exchange for cash considerations.
Garcia, 22, went 3-2 with three saves and a 3.67 ERA (56.1IP, 23ER) in 14 combined games (seven starts) with Class-A Lowell and Greenville. Originally selected by Boston in the 17th round of the 2010 First Year Player Draft out of Land O’Lakes High School (FL), Garcia has gone 15-16 with a 4.69 ERA (293.1IP, 153ER) in 73 minor league games (51 starts).
With this move, the Orioles now have 38 players on the 40-man roster.
