SARASOTA, Fla. – Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Ubaldo Jimenez will start the March 3 exhibition opener against the Tigers in Lakeland, Fla.
The Orioles are playing only one intrasquad game, on March 1 on the Ed Smith Stadium field. The following day will be a normal workout.
Matt Wieters will catch in the intrasquad game, as previously reported, but he won’t throw.
Showalter repeated that Wieters, Manny Machado and Chris Davis will get extra at-bats this spring, which means more road…

The Orioles are playing only one intrasquad game, on March 1 on the Ed Smith Stadium field. The following day will be a normal workout.
Matt Wieters will catch in the intrasquad game, as previously reported, but he won’t throw.
Showalter repeated that Wieters, Manny Machado and Chris Davis will get extra at-bats this spring, which means more road trips. Get the gray pants ready.
Everth Cabrera worked out at second base today and will move to third on Friday. Chris Parmelee took fly balls in the outfield today and Steve Pearce will move out there on Friday.
Davis will get work at third base and in the outfield later in camp.
Showalter said he received a text from former Oriole Nick Markakis this morning regarding the USA TODAY article. Markakis apparently explained how the context was presented compared to how he meant it.
