I am delighted the Enoch Pratt Free Library is joining us on this blog. We will hear from different members of their staff regarding favorite reads and library programs.

Roswell Encina is director of communications at the Enoch Pratt Free Library and offers us this favorite, “The Art of Fielding” by Chad Harbach.

“This baseball book is beautifully and intelligent written with memorable characters and names like Henry Skrimshander and Guert Affenlight,” Encina says. “It showcases the pressure and anxiety of collegiate baseball players and their aspirations of the big leagues. But this book is more than just baseball. For non-sports enthusiasts, it has universal themes like suffering and failure. This book is the baseball equivalent of ‘Friday Night Lights.’ “
