The Orioles head into tonight’s game at Yankee Stadium at 12-14 and trying to break a three-game losing streak. They have fallen four-and-a-half games behind first-place New York in the American League East.

They have been three games under .500 just once before in the 2015 season at 7-10. During the three straight losses, the Orioles have scored just six runs, going 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position.

Since they scored 18 runs on Sunday April 26 against Boston, and eight in their next game against the Chicago White Sox, they have plated just 14 runs, with a team batting average of .215 the past six games. They have scored in order: zero, four, four, two, one and three runs.

The Orioles went 13-6 against New York last year, going 6-4 and scoring 57 runs in 10 games at Yankee Stadium. This season, the clubs are tied 2-2 over four games in the season series.

Should the Orioles lose this series, it would be their first series loss against the Yankees since they went 1-3 from Sept. 9-12, 2013. Since then, the Orioles have won six and tied one series against the Yankees.

Tonight Miguel Gonzalez (3-1, 2.59 ERA) faces New York right-hander Adam Warren (2-1, 4.78 ERA).

A former reliever, Warren has not recorded a quality start or pitched beyond 5 2/3 innings in five 2015 starts. In 10 career bullpen games against the Orioles, he is 1-2 with an 8.18 ERA in 11 career innings.

Gonzalez is coming off a strong start. Last Saturday, he pitched 7 2/3 scoreless innings of four-hit ball against Tampa Bay as he outdueled Chris Archer in a 4-0 win. In 45 career games (42 starts) against the American League East, Gonzalez is 19-10 with a 3.23 ERA and 25 quality starts. He is 3-3 with a 3.62 ERA in 11 career starts versus New York.
