“We’re going to check some things out, get some tests on some things tomorrow,” Showalter said following the Orioles’ 10-2 loss to the Blue Jays before 17,319 at Camden Yards. “We’re prepared to make that adjustment if we get a diagnosis that we need to be concerned about….

Orioles manager Buck Showalter stated tonight that a roster move could be made on Wednesday related to a medical situation with one of his pitchers, and I’ve gotten confirmation that it’s Rule 5 pick Jason Garcia.

“We’re going to check some things out, get some tests on some things tomorrow,” Showalter said following the Orioles’ 10-2 loss to the Blue Jays before 17,319 at Camden Yards. “We’re prepared to make that adjustment if we get a diagnosis that we need to be concerned about. Something we’re looking into.”

Triple-A Norfolk pitcher Mike Wright is headed to Baltimore in case Garcia goes on the disabled list. Garcia’s velocity has been down all season – mostly 92-93 mph – and the Orioles are checking him out.

Look for Wright to be recalled on Wednesday, his first trip to the majors, and Garcia to land on the disabled list.

tillman-sidebar-whitenew.jpgAs for tonight’s game, the Orioles committed three errors and catcher Caleb Joseph was charged with a passed ball. Chris Tillman lost his fourth game in a row for the first time in his career. However, Showalter didn’t agree that the loss was especially frustrating due to the mistakes.

“No,” he said. “I’ve (been) very privileged to watch a lot of really good defensive games played here the last few years. Obviously, tonight wasn’t one of them. Chris pitched pretty well, I thought. We just let it get away from us at the end. I thought Chris was better tonight.”

Did things seem to snowball for the Orioles in the seventh as the miscues mounted and the Blue Jays pulled away?

“However you want to categorize it or term it. Yeah,” Showalter said. “We’ve been really good at that phase and we weren’t tonight. So, learn from it and try to get back to being more of what we’re capable of.

“Didn’t do very good out of the bullpen. We’ve been pitching pretty well out of there. Didn’t tonight. That allowed it to kind of get away from us there.

“(Mark) Buehrle does what he does. It’s almost in some ways like facing a knuckleball pitcher and you try not to do too much. A lot of cutters, very crafty, and Martin does a good job with him back there. We didn’t square up much off him.”

Showalter doesn’t sound concerned about Tillman, who’s sporting a 6.34 ERA in 38 1/3 innings.

“It’s like when hitters are struggling with a good track record, somebody will pay for it down the road,” Showalter said.

Tillman failed to catch a relay throw from Manny Machado that was slightly behind him, ruining the chance at a double play in the seventh. Machado was charged with his eighth error after the ball glanced off Tillman’s glove.

“What he’ll probably lament is the 3-6-1,” Showalter said of Tillman. “There were a lot of things we didn’t do well. That was one that kind of allowed things to open up on us a little bit.

“That’s a play you practice a hundred times. It was a tad behind him, but a play I’ve seen Chris make a lot of times. It wasn’t there.”
