It was another frustrating day for the Orioles. They fell behind early, scored just two runs and lost a series to a team that had a seven-game losing streak when they got to town.

After being shut out over 13 innings last night, they didn’t score today until the sixth inning in a 5-2 loss to Miami.

The Orioles fall to 19-22 on the year and to 7-20 all-time against the Marlins, including a 2-13 mark in Miami.

Buck_Showalter-sidebar_disappointed.jpgRight-hander Tom Koehler retired the first 13 Orioles he faced today. To that point, the Orioles had just two hits in their last 35 at-bats dating to last night.

Their first run came in the sixth. With one out, Manny Machado walked and advanced to third on David Lough’s single. Machado scored on a Jimmy Paredes sac fly. That ended a 19-inning scoreless stretch for the Orioles and cut their deficit to 5-1. It became 5-2 in the eighth on a Chris Davis RBI groundout, but the O’s left the bases loaded.

The O’s were held to two runs or less for the seventh time in the last 13 games and for the 14th time in 2015. They are 0-14 in those games. They have hit just two homers their last seven games and didn’t hit one in Miami.

After scoring eight runs and going 5-for-15 with runners in scoring position Friday night, the O’s scored two runs in the last two games and 22 innings of the series, going 3-for-20 with RISP. One of those hits with RISP was a single last night by pitcher Mike Wright.

On the mound today, Miguel Gonzalez went just four-plus innings, allowing a season-high 10 hits and five runs to match his season high. He threw 96 pitches and falls to 5-3 with an ERA of 3.83. Koehler got the win, allowing one run and three hits over 6 1/3 innings, and is 3-3 with an ERA of 3.44.

Right-hander Chaz Roe, just called up today from Triple-A, pitched two scoreless innings. Brian Matusz, ejected from last night’s game, pitched scoreless ball in the seventh and eighth frames.

The Orioles return home for an eight-game, seven-day homestand that starts Monday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. against the Houston Astros. Wei-Yin Chen (1-3, 2.90 ERA) pitches against the AL leader in ERA, left-hander Dallas Keuchel (6-0, 1.67 ERA).
