De Aza, 31, batted .214/.277/.359 (22-for-103) with three home runs and seven RBIs in 30 games with the Orioles this season. He served as their leadoff hitter on opening day.
De Aza was the only Oriole among 11 arbitration-eligible players this spring to go to a hearing. He lost his case and received $5 million.
Acquired from the White Sox on Aug. 30, 2014, De Aza batted .293/.341/.537 with five doubles, three triples, three home runs and 10 RBIs in 20 games and provided a defensive upgrade in left field.
De Aza is a career .265/.328/.401 hitter in parts of eight major league seasons.
The Orioles designated catcher Ryan Lavarnway for assignment last week and he refused an outright assignment and signed a minor league deal with the Braves. De Aza also could have refused an assignment if he cleared waivers, based on his service time, without forfeiting the remainder of his salary.
