Jones broke a 2-2 tie Thursday with an eighth-inning blast, and he did the same last night in the sixth inning.

With 174 home runs as an Oriole, Jones is five away from tying Hall of Famer Frank Robinson for ninth on the club’s all-time list.

Ubaldo Jimenez hasn’t won since May 11, going 0-1 with three no-decisions. He’s registered five quality starts out of 10 outings, and we’ll never know how he would have finished against the Red Sox on April 17 after holding them without a hit or run over 3 2/3 innings prior to being ejected.

I can’t stress enough how much Jimenez has cut down on his walks. He’s averaging 2.5 per nine innings, compared to 5.5 last season.

Jimenez is 3-1 with a 2.06 ERA at home this season and 0-2 with a 4.76 ERA on the road.

Left-handers are batting .220 against Jimenez this season, while right-handers are hitting .244.

Jimenez is 0-2 with an 11.88 ERA in two starts against his former team, both coming last season. He allowed 11 runs and nine hits in 8 1/3 innings, with eight walks and eight strikeouts.

Brandon Moss is 5-for-12 with a home run and five strikeouts against Jimenez, and Ryan Raburn is 2-for-8 with two triples.

Jimenez is 13-13 with a 3.72 ERA in 35 starts at Progressive Field.

Indians starter Danny Salazar is 5-1 with a 3.79 ERA in nine starts this season. He’s averaging 2.6 walks and 11.7 strikeouts per nine innings, but he’s walked seven in his last two starts over 11 innings.

Salazar has faced the Orioles once, allowing two runs and four hits in five innings. Delmon Young is 2-for-3 with a home run against him. Chris Davis is 1-for-2 with a double and Steve Pearce is 1-for-3 with a double.

Reliever Brian Matusz, serving his eight-game suspension, threw two innings today at extended spring training.

Jimmy Paredes went 0-for-4 last night to lower his average to .298. He’s 2-for-32 in his last nine games.

Paredes goes to the bench today with Matt Wieters serving as the designated hitter.

Manager Buck Showalter (1,284) is one win shy of passing Frank Selee for sole possession of 34th place on the all-time list.

Bud Norris officially is listed as Sunday’s starter against the Indians.
