The Orioles have designated left-hander reliever Wesley Wright for assignment, according to an industry source.
Executive vice president Dan Duquette has 10 days to trade or release Wright, who signed a $1.7 million free-agent contract in December.

The Orioles have designated left-hander reliever Wesley Wright for assignment, according to an industry source.
Executive vice president Dan Duquette has 10 days to trade or release Wright, who signed a $1.7 million free-agent contract in December.
Wright made only two appearances for the Orioles in April before going on the disabled list with a strained left trapezius muscle. He allowed one run and two hits in 1 2/3 innings.
Wright lost velocity and was ineffective during his injury rehab assignment at Triple-A Norfolk, allowing 10 earned runs (11 total) and 15 hits in 11 2/3 innings. He walked seven batters (two intentionally) and struck out five.
The Orioles don’t have a spot for Wright in their bullpen. He agreed to extend his rehab assignment beyond 15 days, but it ended after Sunday’s game and the Orioles had to activate him from the 60-day disabled list.
Wright declined an interview request from MASNsports.com earlier this week.
SBNation first reported that the Orioles designated Wright.
Outfielder Delmon Young and infielder Everth Cabrera, also designated for assignment and subsequently released, remain free agents.
Meanwhile, Adam Jones went 0-for-2 in tonight’s All-Star Game, striking out against Zack Greinke and flying to right field against Madison Bumgarner. He was removed for a pinch-hitter in the fifth.
Manny Machado flied to deep left field against Clayton Kershaw after replacing Josh Donaldson in the fifth.
Update: Zach Britton entered the game with one out in the sixth and struck out Bryce Harper. He committed a throwing error that allowed Paul Goldschmidt to reach, gave up a single to Yadier Molina and retired Troy Tulowitzki on a ground ball.
Update II: Machado had an RBI double off former Orioles reliever Francisco Rodriguez in the seventh inning and scored on Prince Fielder’s sacrifice fly.
