The Orioles today announced that they have recalled right-hander Mychal Givens from Double-A Bowie.
Givens, 25, went 4-2 with a 1.79 ERA (55.1IP, 11ER) and 14 saves in 34 games with the Baysox this season. He led the Eastern League with a 12.52 strikeout per 9.0 innings ratio (77 strikeouts, 55.1IP), posted the third-fewest baserunners per 9.0 innings ratio (9.27), and was tied for the third-lowest batting average against (.191) among Eastern League relievers at the time of his recall. Givens, 25, went 4-2 with a 1.79 ERA (55.1IP, 11ER) and 14 saves in 34 games with the Baysox this season. He led the Eastern League with a 12.52 strikeout per 9.0 innings ratio (77 strikeouts, 55.1IP), posted the third-fewest baserunners per 9.0 innings ratio (9.27), and was tied for the third-lowest batting average against (.191) among Eastern League relievers at the time of his recall. Givens made his Major League debut on June 24 at Boston, striking out one over an inning of work after having his contract selected on June 20.
