Guthrie has faced Matt Garza twice and Justin Duchscherer once in his first three starts, and he’ll face Lester tonight and most likely CC Sabathia on Wednesday. In 39 career starts against the Orioles, those four pitchers are a combined 29-2 with a 2.40 ERA.
Guthrie hasn’t allowed a first inning run in three starts this year after allowing 29 runs in the first inning last season.
Since B.J. Ryan allowed a three-run walk-off homer to David Ortiz on June 2, 2005, the Orioles are 8-32 at Fenway Park and have lost 13 of their last 14 games in Boston.
