(I had to rewrite this entry because it somehow got deleted from the system. I’m off to a good start).
I made the trip back up I-95 this morning, resisting the urge to use the carpool lane, and arrived at Roger Dean Stadium in approximately 45 minutes. Not bad for rush hour, especially going through West Palm, where traffic usually comes to a screeching halt.

The Orioles are back in Jupiter, this time to face the ballpark’s other tenant, the St. Louis Cardinals. Brian Matusz will make his fifth start, and he’s allowed only one run and three hits in his last 10 1/3 innings (all against the Phillies).
Former Oriole Rich Hill will make his fourth appearance, and second start, for the Cardinals. He’s 1-1 with a 6.43 ERA, allowing five runs and eight hits in seven innings, with six walks and seven strikeouts.
Might be time to tweak those mechanics again.
Ken Rosenthal at FOXsports reported this morning that the Orioles are reassigning director of player development David Stockstill. I heard yesterday that president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail would be making an announcement to the media in two or three days, and it involved changes in the farm system. More details unfolded last night.
Props, by the way, to Tony Pente at Orioles Hangout for dropping the first serious hints.
David is expected to switch roles with his brother, John, the director of international scouting.
I wonder if this is a first in baseball?
Good thing they’re not twins or I’d really be confused.
John has been hanging around the minor league side of the Sarasota complex, so I guess that was the first clue that something was in the works.
Perhaps the Orioles will make the announcement today and explain how this transition will take place. We also need to find out whether anyone else’s duties will be expanded, including David’s assistant, Tripp Norton.
