In 199 career minor league games (73 starts), Olmos has gone 16-38 with a 4.44 ERA and 449 strikeouts in 522 2/3 innings.
Olmos has appeared in 11 career major league games (two starts), going 1-1 with a 5.21 ERA in 19 innings.
The Orioles were interested in Olmos while negotiating the Mark Trumbo trade. The Mariners designated him for assignment and the Cubs claimed him on Dec. 4.
The bullpen already includes left-handers Zach Britton and Brian Matusz, and T.J. McFarland will try to break camp with the team. They also have C.J. Riefenhauser, acquired with Trumbo, and Chris Jones.
Lake, 25, batted .200/.238/.325 with a home run and five RBIs in 29 games between the Orioles and Cubs last season. The Orioles acquired him from the Cubs on July 31 for reliever Tommy Hunter, and he didn’t make much of an impression.
Lake was 3-for-22 with three doubles and nine strikeouts in eight games with the Orioles.
