The Orioles today announced that they have agreed to terms with left-hander Brian Matusz on a one-year contract, thus avoiding arbitration.
Matusz, 28, posted a 2.94 ERA (16 ER/49.0 IP) with 56 strikeouts for a career-high 10.29 strikeouts per 9.0 innings ratio in 2015. Over 272 Major League games (68 starts) in seven seasons, Matusz has gone 27-41 with a 4.76 ERA (275 ER/519.2 IP) and 459 strikeouts. In his career, he has stranded 114-of-146 inherited runners (78 percent).
