The Orioles today announced that they have acquired left-hander Jayson Aquino from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for cash considerations. Aquino has been optioned to Double-A Bowie.
Aquino, 23, went 5-11 with a 3.28 ERA (50 ER/137.1 IP) over a career-high 24 starts between Class A-Advanced Lynchburg (Cleveland), Class A-Advanced Dunedin (Toronto), and Class A-Advanced Bradenton (Pittsburgh) in 2015. In 99 career minor league games (98 starts), Aquino has gone 32-37 with a 2.94 ERA (193 ER/591.0 IP).
With this move, there are now 38 players on the Orioles 40-man roster.
