Speaking of homers, Toronto’s Edwin Encarnacion failed to hit one last night as he went 1-for-4 with a single. But Encarnacion has belted 26 homers against the Orioles since 2010. That total is the highest for any O’s opponent over that span, four ahead of Tampa Bay’s Evan Longoria and five ahead of Encarnacion’s teammate Jose Bautista. Encarnacion has 30 homers to rank with the third most by any active player against the Orioles. Alex Rodriguez is first with 67 and David Ortiz is next at 48.

jimenez-pitching-orange-home-sidebar.jpgOn the mound tonight, Ubaldo Jimenez (1-1, 3.75 ERA) makes his third start and faces R.A. Dickey (1-2, 6.75 ERA).

In his first start, Jimenez allowed two runs (one earned) over seven innings against Minnesota. In his second, he gave up four runs over five innings versus Boston. In four 2015 starts against Toronto, Jimenez went seven innings twice and was 3-1 with an ERA of 2.55 and a 1.18 WHIP. Over 13 career games and 12 starts, he is 6-4 with a 3.89 ERA against the Blue Jays.

With his next win, Jimenez will tie right-hander Miguel Batista for ninth place with 102 career victories for all-time wins among Dominican Republic-born pitchers.

Dickey has struggled this year pitching just five, five and 4 2/3 over his three outings. Over those 14 2/3, he has given up 20 hits and 14 runs (11 earned) with eight walks and 15 strikeouts. Opponents are batting .313 against him.

Last season, he made one start against the Orioles and he pitched five scoreless innings on two hits on Sept. 30 at Camden Yards. In 14 career games with 11 starts, Dickey is 2-6 with a 3.93 ERA against Baltimore.

Toronto starting pitchers are 6-3 with a 2.30 ERA and .207 opponent’s batting average in their last nine games.

The Orioles went 8-11 last season against Toronto, losing the season series for the first time since 2011. But from 2012-2014, the Orioles won three consecutive season series, going 32-24. Toronto went 5-5 at Camden Yards last year. Since the 2012 season, the Blue Jays are 15-24 at The Yard.
