T.J. McFarland is in Baltimore and officially will be recalled later today after batting practice. The only question is how the Orioles make room for him on the 25-man roster.
Manager Buck Showalter said the club had two or three choices, including the removal of a position player. However, Ryan Flaherty is starting at third base. Paul Janish is out of options and would have to be designated for assignment.

Relievers Ashur Tolliver and Mychal Givens have options. Showalter mentioned that Tolliver and Dylan Bundy aren’t available tonight because he wants to rest them.
Does this mean Tolliver remains on the roster or was the first curveball of the day delivered in the manager’s pregame session? Stay tuned.
Showalter wanted a second long reliever in the bullpen to pair with Vance Worley. McFarland isn’t being inserted into the rotation upon his arrival.
Showalter repeated that Ubaldo Jimenez is starting Thursday night against the Red Sox. He’s averaging one question about it per day.
Catcher Caleb Joseph continues to rest at home. Showalter said Joseph will be in the clubhouse “when he’s able to walk around comfortably.”
Showalter is hoping that Joseph, on the disabled list with a testicular injury and recovering from a surgical procedure, will return during the homestand.
