Hyun-Soo-Kim-orange-swing-sidebar.jpg“He’s better,” said manager Buck Showalter. “He’s getting close. He could do a lot of things he wasn’t as good at Thursday, so that was encouraging. Just one small thing still there that we just want to make sure of. So he’s close.

“We’ll see if he’s a player on Monday or Tuesday. We think he’s close. If he’s not a player that third day, we’d probably DL him, but we think he’s close.”

Showalter didn’t have much to update concerning Hunter Harvey’s removal from last night’s game with short-season Single-A Aberdeen.

Showalter confirmed that Harvey felt soreness in his right forearm, but he’s hoping the young prospect came out after 1 1/3 innings mostly as a precaution.

Harvey’s fastball was clocked at 96 mph before he left the game.

“Just looking at it, he had good stuff, good velocity,” Showalter said. “I was hoping it was a precautionary thing. I don’t know.”

Aberdeen manager Kevin Bradshaw spent a few nights in the hospital with a back injury and director of player development Brian Graham has been filling in for him. Graham informed Showalter of Harvey’s heath issue.

“Brian just said he had some soreness there that they didn’t like,” Showalter said.
