The Orioles haven’t announced their starter for Thursday in Minnesota, but Jimenez remains a candidate. The Twins are starting right-hander Kyle Gibson.
Asked when he’d make a decision on his starter, Showalter replied, “After we decide whether we’re going with 13 pitchers or not.”
“I know at one point we were leaning toward going with 13 pitchers,” Showalter said, “but that could change.”
Showalter confirmed that pitcher Hunter Harvey’s elbow surgery “went well.”
“As well as could be expected,” he added.
Outfielder Dariel Alvarez, optioned last night to Triple-A Norfolk, will play winter ball in Venezuela.
