The Orioles sent Urrutia to Bowie after he batted .245/.347/.304 with six doubles and 11 RBIs in 32 games at Triple-A Norfolk.

The Orioles designated Urrutia for assignment on July 19 to create a spot for outfielder Julio Borbon on the 40-man roster. Borbon was designated for assignment Tuesday and has expressed interest in staying in the organization if he clears waivers. He can refuse an outright assignment.

Urrutia signed with the Orioles in July 2012 after defecting from Cuba. He made his major league debut in 2013 and reappeared in the majors in 2015, going 25-for-92 with one double, a triple, one home run and eight RBIs.
