There’s still time to purchase tickets for former Orioles outfielder Brady Anderson’s induction into the Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame.
Anderson, a native of Silver Spring who played in orange and black during 14 of his 15 major league seasons, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Thursday, Nov. 3 during ceremonies at Michael’s Eighth Avenue, 7220 Greyburn Drive in Glen Burnie.
The ceremony begins with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and the induction from 7-9:30 p.m.
Anderson is one of seven inductees in the class of 2015. The others are Wheeler Baker (powerboating), Louis Carter (football), Gary Jobson (sailboating), Laurie Schwoy (soccer) and Jack Thomas (lacrosse). Jim Henneman, the longtime reporter for the Baltimore Sun, The Evening Sun and the Baltimore News American, will receive John F. Steadman Lifetime Achievement Award. Henneman, who currently writes for PressBox, also serves as an official scorer for Major League Baseball out of Camden Yards.
Anderson played with the Orioles from 1988 to 2001 and still ranks high on several Orioles career leader lists, including runs (fifth), walks (third), hits (fifth) and extra-base hits (fourth). He is arguably best known for his breakout 1996 season in which he hit a career-high 50 home runs and finished in the top 10 in American League MVP voting. Anderson currently serves as the team’s vice president for baseball operations.
Tickets for the Hall of Fame induction ceremony cost $75 and can be purchased online here. Tickets can also be purchased by check made payable to Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame and mailed to P.O. Box 664, Arnold, MD, 21012.
