Is the market still playing out?
Asked about the position and the difficulty in finding a solution, manager Dave Trembley said, “I’ll sleep on it and see where we’re at.”
As I wrote last night, Michael Aubrey has heated up at Triple-A Norfolk – batting .379 in his last 10 games – but he’s not on the 40-man roster. He didn’t play today in the Tides’ 5-4 victory over Buffalo.
The Orioles probably ruined their chance to win today after wasting seven singles and a walk over the first five innings.
“We didn’t get the hits at the right time,” Trembley said. “We left too many men on base early in the game. And (Jake) Westbrook made big pitches when he had to. We swung at a lot of pitches out of the strike zone, it seemed. That was it.
“Obviously, last night was a game we had an opportunity to win and we didn’t. We won two out of three against Seattle, we came in here and we had a chance to win the series today and we didn’t, so you put it in the books and you get ready to play the Royals tomorrow. That’s what you do. And you expect to play better and you expect to win the last two games here and then take it on the road.”
