Craig Tatum, who is subbing for Matt Wieters tonight with Wieters out after fouling a ball off his right knee last night, has come up big early in the game at Nats Park.
Tatum is two for two and just delivered a clutch, two-out, bases-loaded single for two RBI in the third that gave the O’s a 4-0 lead.
In the top of the second, Adam Jones hit a two-run homer to right center for a 2-0 O’s edge. It was Jones fourth homer of the year and ended a 23-game homerless stretch dating back to April…Craig Tatum, who is subbing for Matt Wieters tonight with Wieters out after fouling a ball off his right knee last night, has come up big early in the game at Nats Park.

Baseball is a funny game. Nats starter Scott Olsen entered this game with an ERA of 1.11 over his last five starts and had walked just 11 in 40 innings this season. So tonight he has walked three in three innings. And, Tatum, a .190 hitter on the year, is two for two.
Jones by the way, hit Nats pitching well last year, going 10 for 26 with a homer and 6 RBI in the six meetings between the teams.
Update: Olsen, by the way, was just pinch hit for by another pitcher, Livan Hernandez, in the last of the third, so he is out of this game already. David Hernandez struck out Livan, who chased a high fastball. Olsen allowed four runs and six hits over three frames. Hernandez and the O’s lead 4-0 after three innings.
Update 2: MASN’s Nats TV reporter Debbie Taylor, just had a report where she mentioned that Olsen was taken out of tonight’s game due to tightness in his left shoulder.
