Chris Tillman’s rehab start has been moved from Single-A Frederick to Double-A Harrisburg due to the weather.
Tillman is rejoining the Bowie Baysox tonight after working 2 2/3 innings on Monday at Prince George’s Stadium.
Meanwhile, rain continues to fall in Frederick, where Tillman was supposed to pitch this afternoon. The Orioles anticipated the issue and rerouted him to Harrisburg.
Tillman threw 42 pitches on Monday, allowing one run, and the Orioles would like to get him up to four innings and around 60 pitches tonight.
The original schedule called for Tillman to stay with the Keys after today and meet up with them in Potomac after throwing a bullpen session at Camden Yards.
The Orioles could activate Tillman from the disabled list on May 2 or choose to keep him on his rehab assignment. He hasn’t reported any discomfort in his right shoulder, but noted on Monday that it’s taking longer for him to get loose.
Tillman also must regain his fastball velocity. He topped out at 90 mph against Richmond.
Meanwhile, I don’t have any updates on the status of tonight’s game at Camden Yards. It’s much too soon to know whether the Orioles and Red Sox will play. The club will let us know when it knows.
Update: The Keys’ game was rained out. Orioles manager Buck Showalter made the right call last night.
The forecast in Harrisburg calls for 20 percent chance of rain at gametime.
