Joey Rickard went 1-for-3 with a run scored today as the designated hitter in Game 1 of a doubleheader at Single-A Delmarva. Rickard also served as the designated hitter in Game 2 due to the wet outfield and was 1-for-3.

The Orioles are expected to activate Rickard from the DL on Friday following their off-day.

Outfielder Mike Yastrzemski played nine innings yesterday at extended spring training and outfielder Michael Bourn played five. No physical issues were reported.

Yastrzemski is recovering from sports hernia surgery and Bourn is recovering from a broken right ring finger.

Bourn is expected to be assigned to Triple-A Norfolk once he’s deemed ready. The Orioles want to give him enough at-bats, 35-40, to simulate spring training.

Yastrzemski will be sent to Norfolk or Double-A Bowie, depending on roster space. His move is likely to come over the weekend.

Pitcher Edwin Jackson, also at extended spring training, probably will be assigned to Norfolk early next week. Miguel Castro will throw Thursday and Saturday at extended spring training before reporting to an affiliate.

Castro is on Single-A Frederick’s roster, but I’ve been told that he’ll move up to Bowie.
