MINNESOTA – Orioles first baseman Chris Davis took live batting practice this afternoon and fielded ground balls while increasing the intensity of his baseball activities.
Davis hadn’t hit live pitching since going on the disabled list with a strained right oblique. He’s expected to play Monday afternoon at Single-A Frederick and Wednesday night at low Single-A Delmarva, work out with the Orioles on Thursday and return to the active roster the following day.

Davis hadn’t hit live pitching since going on the disabled list with a strained right oblique. He’s expected to play Monday afternoon at Single-A Frederick and Wednesday night at low Single-A Delmarva, work out with the Orioles on Thursday and return to the active roster the following day.
Jonathan Schoop played his first major league inning at shortstop last night, but he’s starting at second base tonight.
Kevin Gausman’s 7.60 road ERA is the sixth-highest in the majors and the highest in the American League among pitchers with at least eight starts away from home. Opponents are batting .340 with seven home runs.
Right-handers are batting .336 against Gausman, the fourth-highest average in the majors.
