Nick Markakis’ wife, Christina, gave birth to Tucker Edward at 8:21 p.m. The baby weighs 7 pounds, 1 ounce.

Bergesen has held Oakland to two runs and two hits in seven innings. He surrendered 10 runs (nine earned) and 21 hits in 11 2/3 innings in his last two starts.
Oakland lefty Gio Gonzalez was removed with one out in the bottom of the seventh. He threw 108 pitches – 28 more than Bergesen.
Julio Lugo has three hits tonight, and he’s been solid-to-spectacular in the field.
Triple-A Norfolk’s Chris George has held Pawtucket to one run and three hits over six innings, but that run broke a scoreless tie in the sixth. Boof Bonser shut out the Tides on four hits over six innings before leaving the game.
Update: Miguel Tejada’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh increased the Orioles’ lead to 4-2.
