Former Orioles pitching coach and manager Ray Miller has been elected to the Orioles’ Hall of Fame.
Former catcher and manager Johnny Oates will be inducted posthumously as a selection of the Veteran’s Committee. Longtime baseball operations employee Lenny Johnston will be enshrined as this year’s Herb Armstrong Award winner.

I voted for Miller and am thrilled that he’ll receive this honor before the Aug. 7 game against the White Sox.
Rafael Palmeiro, Roberto Alomar, Mike Bordick and Jesse Orosco also were on the ballot this year.
It would have been fascinating to see Palmeiro return to Camden Yards. Alomar only played three seasons in Baltimore, which might not be enough to warrant induction.
OK, now I’m taking the rest of the day off. I swear.
