The Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Austin Voth from Triple-A Syracuse and optioned right-handed pitcher Austin L. Adams to Syracuse on Sunday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.
Voth, 25, joins the Nationals for the first Major League assignment of his career. He is 1-0 with a 0.96 ERA in four starts for Triple-A Syracuse to start the season. Voth, 25, joins the Nationals for the first Major League assignment of his career. He is 1-0 with a 0.96 ERA in four starts for Triple-A Syracuse to start the season. In the four starts, he has tossed 18.2 IP, allowing two runs on 11 hits while striking out 22 and walking just two. He has held opposing batters to a .169 average (11-for-65).
Voth was selected in the fifth round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft and was named Washington’s 2015 Minor League Pitcher of the Year. In 118 Minor League starts, Voth is 28-35 with a 3.39 ERA. He has recorded 8.3 strikeouts per 9.0 IP and a 3.03 strikeout-to-walk ratio in six professional seasons.
Adams, 26, appeared in two games, tossing 1.0 IP with a 0.00 ERA, giving up one hit and three walks.
