Santander lost his Rule 5 status yesterday and will play left and right field at Bowie.
The Rays are starting left-hander Blake Snell today and the manager Buck Showalter wanted another right-handed hitting outfielder. He said more roster moves could be made following today’s game and Monday’s off-day.
Showalter said Yacabonis needs to work on his command and “backing up third base,” which he failed to do last night on Jonathan Schoop‘s throwing error.
The Orioles need a starter for Wednesday afternoon’s game against the Phillies at Camden Yards. Kevin Gausman is pushed back to Thursday in Boston.
David Hess is a consideration to pitch in the Red Sox series.
Darren O’Day will throw today and could be activated from the disabled list Wednesday or Thursday. He won’t need a rehab assignment.
Pedro Ãlvarez is getting close to returning to the lineup. Showalter won’t alert the Rays to Ãlvarez’s availability today.
Chris Davis is on the bench today.
