Dylan Bundy is 1-1 with a 0.70 ERA in four day games this season, with only two earned runs allowed in 25 2/3 innings. His 0.70 daytime ERA leads the majors (minimum three starts).
The Orioles aren’t listing a starter for Friday night’s series opener against the Rays at Tropicana Field, but David Hess is expected to take the ball. Andrew Cashner and Kevin Gausman will start the next two games.
The Rays haven’t confirmed their starters for the series.
The Orioles are batting .218 through the first seven games of the road trip. The starters have posted a 6.38 ERA in 36 2/3 innings.
Former Orioles catcher Welington Castillo has been suspended 80 games after testing positive for Erythropoietin, a performance-enhancing substance. Castillo signed a two-year, $15 million contract with the White Sox.
On this date in 1994, Cal Ripken Jr. hit his 300th career home run, a three-run shot in the third inning off the Brewers’ Teddy Higuera. Ripken joined Eddie Murray and Boog Powell as the only Orioles to total 300 home runs.
